Crossfit, If It Fits Your Macros, Workouts

The Return to Crossfit

Today I made my first trip back to RAW and to Crossfit in…oh, about 4 months. Needless to say it was just as awful as I remember but I missed it so freaking much. Here’s what we did:

3 WODs:

WOD 1:
15 pull ups
10 heavy wall balls (20#)
5 clean & jerks (110#)

WOD 2:
15/12 calories assault bike
10 v-ups
5 snatches (85#)

WOD 3:
15/12 calorie row
10 burpees
5 step back front rack lunges

Needless to say these three WODs took up the entire hour. I legitimately forgot how bad Crossfit makes you feel and how incredibly difficult it is. I was so out of breath and had to pause before the heavy lifts. Although I just ran 26 miles and I’m in shape, I’m not in Crossfit shape like I was!

My approach and outlook to Crossfit right now is really just to get back into the swing of things. I don’t have any goals to compete or to get super strong. I just want to enjoy working out again a few times a week and get back into a little better shape.

Since I stopped tracking in April (around then?) I’ve gained about 15 lbs, which I’m definitely not devastated about because I really do believe that my body needed that time to recovery and to get back to a more balanced place both mentally and physically.

While I was training for the marathon, I actually did a little bit of a reverse diet to make sure I was fueled appropriately for my runs. At this point, I’m going to cut weight for a bit to get back down to the 145-150 range, as that’s where I feel the healthiest and the most in shape.

This time around though, I will not be as strict or rigid with my macros or my tracking. When I did WAG the first time, I was so tough and so perfect and that definitely affected me for a long time. So I’m going to find that happy medium of reaching my goals but also enjoying life. And after I cut, it’s back to a reverse diet to eat tons of food!

I’ve toyed around with the idea of doing more of the weekly update posts on here where I post my macros as well as my progress. Anyone out there really interested in seeing that again? I’ll probably document it in some capacity, only because it’s fantastic to look back and see where I came from and how much progress I did make!
