Crossfit, Just the basics., Operation Get the Fat off of my Body

That Time I Almost Lost It

So I wasn’t able to go to crossfit for 3 days because of work, and I told you I was itching to get there. I went this morning but did something different, that I’ve only done once before going to crossfit and something I will never do again. I took a pre-work out.

When I was lifting by myself, I would take a pre-workout because it made me feel more energized and gave me a good pump. I took that normal pre-work out this morning before crossfit and it drained the energy out of me.

We started with:

Cleans 8 EMOM 3 reps at 70% 1 rep max

That translates to 3 cleans at 70% of your one rep max (88lb for me so I rounded up to 90), every minute on the minute for 8 minutes.

That wasn’t so bad. It actually felt really good to lift heavy.

Next was the Met-con for the day…

For time:

400 meter run
30 box jumps (24/20)
30 kettle bell swings (44/25)
30 toes to bar
30 burpees
30 knees to elbows
30 kettle bell swings (44/25)
30 box jumps (24/20)
400 meter row

This sucked. Like really sucked. It didn’t look that bad (I feel like I say this for every workout) but it was really awful.

I felt nauseated after the second round of 30 kettle bell swings.

I felt like I was going to pass out right before I did my run.

Needless to say, I will not be using a pre-workout for a looooong time. After three days off from working out I should have felt awesome, but instead I felt like crap from that little mistake. Lesson learned. Tomorrow will be better!

I finally have a day off.

Last night we went to Kevin and Mandy’s apartment, two of my really good friends, for family dinner. They made zucchini spaghetti, meatballs and garlic bread. My sister Alexis made some keto brownies, as she is following a low-carb keto diet to lose weight for her upcomming wedding. Did I mention Kevin and Mandy are getting married too?! I love all of these weddings.

Anyways, we hung out there and all decided we need to own a spiralizer. We watched their two pups Luna and Foxy play and just bs’d for a while. I love family dinners with all of my friends. We try to do it once a month and the host cooks dinner and we just hang out. Some of us don’t get to see each other all that often because of our work schedules or the distance we live apart from each other, but it’s always a good time when we get together.  We have already planned a summer day of fun including an adult slip ‘n slide as well as homemade tropical drinks at our place once it gets warm!!

Today like I slept in for a while and then had that terrible work out at crossfit. I stopped at the thrift store on my way home because last night I told all of my friends that I was going to buy a lamp and “Pinterest the shit out of it”. Naturally the guys had no idea what I was talking about, but the girls definitely got it. So I bought my lamp and it’s currently in the process of being transformed. I’m an idiot and didn’t take a picture of the before, so you’ll just have to see the final product.

While I was out, I decided to buy a few more things to spruce up our house. The spring always makes me want to organize things and change all of our decorations for the summer.

I stopped first at TJMaxx, by far my favorite place to shop for home stuff and picked up a few gems:

Boring placemats on our kitchen table before.

Bright and colorful placemats and gold vase after!

I just love the pattern and the color.

I then when to Kohl’s, my second favorite place to shop for cheap home stuff…

A new “Life is good” sign for the entry way, and Goose says hi. #spotthevizsla

Recipe for love sign. This is in our kitchen and when I saw it I just couldn’t say no.

Our cake cutting song at our wedding was “The Recipe for Love” and Mike loves that song. I hope he likes this!

Luckily those two signs were buy one get one 1/2 off because the recipe one was $40 originally. I was going to spend that much because it was so fitting for us!

Spring/summer time makes me want to decorate our house with things that are light and airy. Even thought it’s a chilly 31 degrees here in Pittsburgh, I’m holding out for the warm weather. I’ve even lit my favorite Key Lime Pie candle today in hopes that it will make spring come faster.

Hopefully this week we’ll be buying a new grill and gifting our old one to my sister. We’re ready to upgrade and they’re always willing to take hand me downs. It’s a perfect situation.

Since being off of “social media” I really want to use my down time to complete projects around the house. I have been allowing myself access to Pinterest, but only in small amounts. Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and Snapchat are off limits at all times though. And if I find myself looking at Pinterest and things that I’m not even interested in, I stop and move on to something else.
