So not that any of you would ever live with me, with the exceptions of Tim, Kevin, Alexis, Mandy and Brad…who I think still read this, for our vacation this summer, I have some funny confessions about living with me.
Mike should have been made known about these little “habits” when we were dating. But he wasn’t. He got to deal with them head on when we moved in together.
I leave laundry in the washer and dryer.
No one can ever break me of this habit.
It just happens.
I forget about it or I am too lazy to fold it.
It could be in there for a week or for a few days…whenever I get around to it.
I am pretty crappy at cleaning.
I choose to do my cleaning all on one day, preferably my day off.
I spend about 1 or 2 hours cleaning the family room, the bathrooms, the kitchen, etc.
I am terrible at putting things away so half the time is spent gathering things from where they don’t belong.
I never clean in small bits throughout the week. It just doesn’t happen.
I eat things straight out of the jars/containers.
Milk, nutella, chocolate chips, peanut butter, ice cream, you name it.
Nothing is safe.
I’m pretty sure this is the one thing that freaked Mike out the most, when he saw me eating Nutella out of the jar.
We’re runners, of usually 10 miles or more…I think we earned the right to eat Nutella out of the jar!
I stay up late reading/surfing my i-Phone.
I will lay in bed for 30-45 minutes doing this, no matter what day it is.
I am really trying to get better at this but it’s hard.
Good thing for Mike though that he is a deep sleeper so he usually doesn’t mind.
I do not shower every day.
Sure, I’ll get in and “wash off” but I do not wash my hair everyday.
I think showers are pointless and a waste of time, but I guess it’s the socially acceptable thing to shower every day.
My showers usually last 5-7 minutes and no longer. Mike will stand in there for 30 minutes.
And he wonders why our water bill is so high.
I eat, a lot.
I hate to call it “binge” eating because I don’t believe that I have an eating disorder, but I will come home from work and easily eat.
I usually eat Oreos, cookies, ice cream, or Doritos and Salsa.
This usually occurs between the hours of 12 midnight and 4 am.
I don’t know why I do it, but I do.
I listen to my body and I’m hungry when I get home.
I like sleep, but I don’t love sleep.
I try to get 8 hours of sleep each night, no matter what time my shift ends.
2 am? I’m sleeping until 11.
Mike on the other hand LOVES sleeping and can easily sleep 10-12 hours a night.
I refuse and cannot, even if we are on vacation.
I have to get up and be doing something. Always.
I don’t like to go to bed early.
Keeping with the sleeping thing…I don’t like to go to bed early, but I like to get up early.
9PM is way too early for me…10 or 11, that’s fine.
Mike goes to bed at 9:30, no joke, every night.
If I’m not there…he’s in bed at 8:30.
I refuse to sleep in however, and will always be awake by 8, unless I’ve worked late.
If you take too long to do something, I will do it myself.
If the grass needs cut, the snow blown, the house cleaned, I will do it if you don’t do it in a timely manner.
I cannot be idle, and I get angry when things aren’t done.
Maybe you could say it makes me “anxious” but I will just do it myself.
Maybe that’s why I’m always so tired!
I prefer to do chores outside than indoors.
I hate cleaning inside. I love doing yardwork and being outside.
I will weed wack, snow blow, leaf blow, and cut hedges all day.
The lawnmower is still sketchy…insert finger injury.
I can’t wait for warm weather.
~ ~ ~
I’m sure there are plenty more than this, but this is just for starters. Mike doesn’t seem to mind too much…and through our year of living together we have definitely learned things about each other and our relationship.
It just takes time, communication and patience with each other.
