I ran this little gem this weekend with one of my good friends. We actually ran it slower than what I normally run my long runs at (9:15) but it felt fine. The last two miles we broke off and I finished up with a 9:00 pace and still feeling pretty good about the whole thing.
Also, let me just tell you exactly how long it took me to figure out how to transfer my data from my Garmin to my computer: 1 hour. I definitely don’t think it took that long with my previous watch. I love Garmin but ‘cmon now!
We started on Pittsburgh’s North Shore, crossed the West End Bridge and then ran all the way out to the South Side…right past my favorite place to drink good beer; the Hoffbrahaus. I think 9:30 is a little too early to stop for a brewski though.
Overall the run felt good, however I was exhausted in the afternoon after finishing it. Mike texted me and surprised me saying that I was going to pick tonight’s date night activities, as I constantly work weekends and we never get to see each other, much less have time to get out and do stuff together. So I thought and I thought and I thought, but I knew all along what I was craving…

The bacon and shrimp club with the special sauce. This sandwich is to die for and this is the only thing I get from the Cheesecake Factory when we go. We both ate only half of our meals so that we could have plenty of room for Cheesecake and coffee. Which we finished both of. It was a wonderful date night.
I also brought up a suggestion to Mike for the both of us since we have very few date nights together. Working random shifts and days, not limited to but including night shift, holidays, and weekends can be really hard on our schedule. Even though we live in the same house, there are periods when we will go 4 or 5 days without seeing each other. We obviously don’t make a huge deal out of it, but we realize it’s not ideal. Mike works 8-4 usually, so it’s usually my schedule to blame.
My suggestion was, and this was somewhat borrowed from Julie at Peanut Butter Fingers, that we take turns one day a month with a “surprise” date night. The one person plans the entire night, the other person has no idea what we’re doing with the exception of what to wear. Some things we thought of right off the bat include Pirate Games, Pens Games, Steeler Games, Riverhound Games, Summer concerts, Ballet, Symphony, and Musicals. We both love all of those things, just never have time or plan appropriately to do them. We went to see the Phantom of the Opera and it was awesome!
Now the whole thing is that it doesn’t have to be expensive; it could be dinner at our favorite place, or a picnic, or playing frisbee…whatever. What is important is that it is a surprise and it’s between the two of us.

Recently I have been also feeing run down. Super tired and lacking motivation. I somehow scheduled myself for 91 hours this pay, which I have done in the past, but forgot what that was like. Then I was asked yesterday to work today, making that a total of 102 hours. That was not happening. I’m not complaining, just putting it out there.
This week I am off today and Friday…and that’s it. I indeed work Holy Thursday, East Saturday and East Sunday. I am going to see if I can come in late Sunday morning by about 30 minutes so that I can go to church Sunday morning. I did the same thing last year, but totally forgot that Easter was in March this year. Dur.
Yep, that’s me.
I guess the bright side is that 91 hours is cha-ching in the bank! And I get about a week’s worth of vacation at the end of April without requesting off for it!

Another exciting thing…WE’RE DONE WITH OUR TAXES.
I’m back with the cats again.
We finished them last night and are getting a pretty good return back. We make too much money to claim our student loans as well. Thank you government, appreciate that one.
We’re planning on using our return to buy new furniture, namely a chair for the den to “read” and relax in, as well as one for the living room. We stopped by Lovesac while we were out on our date this weekend and I totally want this for our basement:
That’s me and Mike, obviously.
How awesome would that thing be to watch movies in?! And Goose could fit! Perfect!

Alright, I’m outta here. We’re going to see Kenzie today and get dinner with Mike’s parents. I love free food.
