We have been living in our new home for almost 1 year now. In 1 year we bought a few things including 2 couches, an extra large coffee table, and a King size mattress.
There are no comparisons for a King size mattress when you’re sleeping with another person. Our mattress is so comfortable that it just sucks me in and I never want to get out. Combine that with ear plugs and I have such a hard time getting out of bed in the morning.
Anyways…what was I saying…
Oh yes, we have been here for 1 year and so far things are running smoothly. We have even threw in a crazy Goose, and we’re still not in shambles.
But recently I have noticed something that has started to bother me; we have no organization. We have a place for bills, sure, but nothing makes sense. We have tons of gifts from our wedding, but no organization to how they are placed in our house. We have two desks, but no real office, which would be great because there is nothing better to me than sitting down at an official desk to write my blog posts. It means it’s time to get down to business.
So for 2013, one of our goals as husband and wife is to become more organized. In doing this, we have decided to break the year down by months and given our projects specific time-lines.
One of the best apps out there for your iPhone, iPad, and computer. It allows you to make notes about whatever and they’re automatically updated and sent to your phone and iPad or wherever.
But anyways, as you can say, we have goals so far for everything up to March.
January included finishing our wedding Thank You’s (which take forever by the way), organize the red room (where all of our miscellaneous wedding gifts were just placed as a temporary home), sell a table in our basement (which will be donated because no one wants to buy that ugly thing), and purchase the treadmill.
We have decided to complete one room at a time, that way we can really think about what we want to organize and buy without just buying random things. We essentially want to make our house ours and a well oiled machine. Next month is reclaiming our den as an office! YAY!

Also in 2013, we’re trying to save more money on unnecessary purchases. We are starting to plan our meals for the week, making bigger batches that we can even freeze or eat multiple days in a row since there are two of us. This week I am trying both of these recipes…
This should be a winner, but we’ll see! For the two of us, this should last us a few days!
Even though I am not going to be here for dinner for the next 6 nights, I am making one casserole early this week which Mike will bake, leaving me left overs for lunch and dinner. The Mike will make the crock pot chicken one evening for more meal options.
We’re also trying to incorporate new recipes in our lives because everyday when we’re both home we sit there looking at each other for 15 minutes figuring out what we want to have. Generally we stick to sandwiches and soup, which is fine occasionally, but we need more variety in our lives. Thank you Pinterest.

So far, we’re doing well. We’ve done all of January’s goals and will now be starting with February! I think we can make this work!

Do you break your goals down over time, especially if they’re bigger ones??
I have never had such big goals as these ones. They definitely need to be spaced out or else we would go crazy or broke…maybe both.
